Do you feel unproductive resting?

fitness health productivity rest rest days slow down

But resting feels boring!Resting feels unproductive!I should be doing more!Have you said any of those to yourself before?I bet you have! I used to think slowing down was awful. I hated not doing something, not ticking off a box or doing more with my day. I would fit in as MUCH as I could into one day and burn myself out in the process! The funny thing is that less is more a lot of the time. Sometimes doing more will only cause damage and actually not be effective!Take exercise for example. Overtraining is a HUGE issue! And ends up burning out your body before you've been able to get stronger, or fitter. You are more likely to get injured as your body is tired.

You're more likely to miss your alarm because you've worked your body too much it just demands more sleep.I've come to realize that slowing down is actually so beautiful. It can be so nice to sit quietly and take your surroundings. It can be so lovely to spend more quality time with family and friends without rushing to fit in a million things. Slowly down helps us process emotions, create ideas, reset our minds, restore energy into our muscles. Ways to slow down

  • Taking a walk instead of a run
  • Sitting in silence or with your partner whilst having your breakfast instead of having the TV on or trying to reply to a message at the same time
  • Reading at the end of the day
  • Doing a gentle stretch flow instead of a crazy workout

Finding moments of stillness doesn't have to be overwhelming but can be implemented in small little ways that will overall help your mental and physical state of being!

What are your favourite ways to practice slowing down?
